Germoloids Cream 55g

Germoloids cream. Used to relieve the symptoms of pain, swelling and irritation associated with piles (haemorrhoids ) and anal itching (pruritus ani). For adults and children over 12 years.

This product is for administration in and around the rectum only.
Before initial use check that the tube seal is intact, then remove by peeling from
the tag.
Haemorrhoids may either be external (around the outside of the back passage) or
internal (inside the back passage). For external haemorrhoids, and itching in the area
around the back passage, apply the cream directly. For internal haemorrhoids, screw
the applicator nozzle onto the tube and gently insert the applicator into the opening of
the back passage. Gently squeeze the tube whilst slowly withdrawing the nozzle so
that the cream moves gently up the back passage. The insertion is eased by smearing
some of the cream on the outside of the nozzle.
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. Keep the tube of cream,
including cap and nozzle, scrupulously clean.
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: apply to the affected area at least
twice a day with a minimum of 3 to 4 hours between applications. Further
applications can be made at any time of the day, and are particularly recommended
after a bowel movement.
Do not use more than 4 times in any 24 hour period.

Germoloids Cream contains 25g or 55g of a white cream containing Zinc
Oxide Ph Eur 6.6% w/w and Lidocaine Hydrochloride Ph Eur 0.7% w/w as the active
ingredients.
It also contains: emulsifying wax, white soft paraffin, methyl salicylate, methyl
hydroxybenzoate (E218), butyl hydroxybenzoate and water.
Zinc oxide has astringent properties, which help to shrink swelling. It also helps
soothe and protect the area around the back passage from damage and also has mild
antiseptic properties.Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic which helps to soothe swelling, pain and irritation and
relieve itching.
The cream base acts as an emollient to help the passing of stools and reduce the
straining which is bad for piles (haemorrhoids).

Most people using Germoloids Cream find it causes them no problems. However,
rarely some people experience increased local irritation at the site of application. If
you are concerned about this, or if this product affects you in any other way, stop
using it and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use this product if:
• you are allergic to the actives or any of the other ingredients listed above.
E218 may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Please talk to your doctor first if:
• you continually suffer from haemorrhoids or have severe haemorrhoids
• you experience excessive bleeding
If you are Pregnant or Breastfeeding
You may use this medicine if you are pregnant or breast feeding but as with all
medicines at this time, you should discuss it with your doctor first.

Not recommended for children under 12 years.
If you do not get better go and see your doctor.
If some Germoloids Cream is accidentally swallowed, tell your doctor at once.

Do not store above 25°C and do not use it after the "Use by" date shown on the pack.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
