Curanail is the Once Weekly Treatment for Mild Nail Infections.

Formally a prescription-only medicine.

Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer is a once weekly treatment for mild fungal nail infections
- for up to two nails - that is now available from the pharmacy.

Curanail contains the active ingredient amorolfine, an effective antifungal agent
previously only available on prescription. Curanail kills a wide range of different
fungi that can cause nail infections. This means that, for the majority of
sufferers, Curanail can actually get rid of the infection.

In addition, Curanail comes in the form of a nail lacquer (like a nail varnish),
which only needs to be applied once a week. This combination of effectiveness and
convenience makes Curanail a first choice over-the-counter treatment for mild fungal
nail infection.

Curanail is a clinically proven licensed antifungal treatment so it is
different from cosmetic and antiseptic products available for nail infections

Curanail treats mild cases of fungal nail infections that start at the
nail tip and spread down towards the base that are caused by fungi (dermatophytes,
yeasts and moulds)

Easy and convenient to use so a single application treats the nail
infection continuously for a week.

Dosage and Administration:  Adults Only – Apply to the affected finger or toe nails once weekly (see summary of product characteristics for full technique).  Treatment duration depends on intensity and localisation of infection.  Generally, six months (finger nails) and nine to twelve months (toe nails). Not recommended for use in patients under the age of 18 

Side Effects: Adverse drug reactions are rare. Nail disorders (e.g. nail discoloration, broken nails, brittle nails) may occur. These reactions can also be linked to the onychomycosis itself.  Rare (≥ 1/10000, ≤ 1/1000) adverse drug reactions include: nail disorder, nail discoloration, onychoclasis.  Very rare (≤ 1/10000) adverse drug reactions include: skin burning sensation, contact dermatitis.
Interactions:  No specific studies involving concomitant treatment with other topical medicines. Avoid nail varnish or artificial nails.   

Do not use Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer if:

You are allergic to the nail lacquer or any of the ingredients it contains
You are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or intend to become pregnant or are breastfeeding
You are under the age of 18

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer if:

You suffer from diabetes
You are being treated because you have a weak immune system You have poor circulation in your hands and feet
Your nail is severely damaged or infected

Important information about some of the ingredients of Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer: This product contains ethanol (alcohol) using it too often or applying inaccurately may produce irritation and dry the surrounding skin

Interactions with other medicines: You can use the nail lacquer whilst you are taking other medicines

If Curanail 5% Nail Lacquer gets into your eyes or ears: wash it out with water immediately and contact your doctor, pharmacist or nearest hospital straight away.

Avoid the lacquer coming into contact with mucous membranes (e.g. mouth and nostrils).
Do not breathe it in.
If you, or anyone else, accidentally swallows the lacquer contact your doctor, pharmacist or nearest hospital straight away.
